In Kyoto, June 30 is known as the day to eat Minazuki. On this day, the Shinto ritual called Nagoshi no Harae is performed, during which Minazuki is eaten to cleanse impurities from the first half of the year and to pray for good health in the months ahead.
At our shop, Minazuki is available in three varieties: matcha, plain (white), and roasted green tea (hojicha). (Photo, front to back: matcha, plain, hojicha.)
