kashiwa-mochi
Oak Leaf mochi
Mochi filled with bean paste and wrapped in oak leaves.

A soft rice cake filled with sweet bean paste and wrapped in a fragrant oak leaf, traditionally enjoyed on May 5th for Children’s Day in Japan.
Because oak leaves do not fall until new leaves have grown, they have long symbolized the prosperity of descendants and the continuity of the family line.
